A power cut? We explain how to find out the cause of the power cut step by step and solve the problem.
Step 1: Is there a general power outage?
Check whether there are any current outages:
enexis.nl/storingen-en-onderhoud. Is there no outage listed here (yet)? Then check whether the neighbours (own meter box) also have no power. In that case, you can report a failure to the grid operator. The grid operator will then resolve the fault as quickly as possible.
Step 2: Something broken in your meter box?
If the fault is only with you, we will check the meter box. We will check whether the earth leakage switch is broken. To find out whether the earth leakage circuit breaker is broken, turn all the switches in the meter cupboard and then turn the earth leakage circuit breaker back on. If this does not work, chances are that the RCCB is broken. Complete the form below if this is the case. If you have any questions and/or unclarities, do not hesitate to call us on 050 230 7421.
Step 3: In which group is the fault?
To find out which group the fault is in, switch off the RCD and then all groups. Then switch the RCD back on and activate the groups one by one. If the button stays on, there is nothing wrong in that group. If the button shoots back, then there is a device under that group causing the fault.
Step 4: Which appliance is causing the fault?
You probably have a faulty appliance in your home that is causing a short circuit or overload. You locate the device by unplugging all the appliances in that group. Then plug them back in one by one. The plug where the RCD or fuse pops out is the culprit and the cause of the power failure. If this happens to an appliance that belongs to us (e.g. boiler/built-in fridge/built-in oven etc), we would of course like to hear about it so that we can fix it!
